Rheumatology

I am a Consultant Rheumatologist at Sussex Premier Health in Hastings.

I cover all aspects of Rheumatic disease including:

  • Inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders such as lupus, gout, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia.
  • Soft tissue rheumatic disease including tendonitis, tenosynovitis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome.

I also perform joint and soft tissue injections including hyaluronic acid (Synvisc and Durolane).

I am accredited for medico-legal work in relation to rheumatic disease and fibromyalgia.

I have been an NHS consultant in both Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine for over 20 years. I was Lead Clinician in Rheumatology for 8 years and I continue to work in the NHS alongside my Private Practice. My NHS commitment is at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (Eastbourne DGH, Conquest Hospital and Uckfield).

I studied medicine at Imperial College/Westminster Medical School. My research into Rheumatology was at St Georges Hospital Medical School where I looked at the effects of aerobic exercise on the the hormonal systems of patients with autoimmune disease.  I have published papers in this field.

My formal Rheumatology training was at South Thames Regional Training Scheme which included rotations at St George’s Hospital and Guys and St Thomas’.
