I did my pre-clinical training at Keble in Oxford and my clinical training at St George’s in London. I then went on to train in ear, nose and throat disorders in the Royal Navy. Before being appointed as a consultant in 1987, I was a senior registrar at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey. I retired from the Royal Navy as Surgeon Commander in 1990, I then took up a consultant post at the Carmarthen and Aberystwyth trust from 1990-1993 before moving to Hastings where I have been a consultant ENT surgeon since 1993.
