Mr Khalid Malik is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, with an established practice in East Sussex. He is a Consultant at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and provides private consultations and surgery at Sussex Premier Health in Hastings.

Depending on the problem, treatment may simply involve reassurance and advice, physiotherapy, pain management or injection therapy. For selected patients with knee osteoarthritis, he also offers Arthrosamid® as a non-surgical treatment option.

Mr Malik has a strong academic background in orthopaedic research, education and surgical training. He holds a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences with Distinction and has authored more than 30 academic. He has presented his research at national and international meetings and acts as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals.
His research has received national and international recognition, including the British Hip Society President’s Prize and the EFORT Jacques Duparc Award.
Mr Malik is also passionate about surgical education and training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. He founded CollabORTHO, a national orthopaedic teaching collaborative, and has contributed to surgical education through teaching and faculty roles with the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England. His commitment to training has been recognised with the Trainer of the Year award on two occasions, at Barts Health in 2013 and East Kent Hospitals in 2017.
Mr Malik graduated from Imperial College London and completed his specialist orthopaedic training across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Following completion of his specialist training, he was appointed the prestigious Thackray Fellow at Wrightington Hospital – internationally recognised as the birthplace of modern hip replacement surgery. The fellowship provided advanced specialist training in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, complex reconstruction, prosthetic joint infection, periprosthetic fractures and customised joint replacement.
Mr Malik was subsequently awarded the British Hip Society Travelling Fellowship Bursary, allowing him to visit the Adult Reconstruction Unit at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, an internationally recognised centre for hip and knee reconstruction.
