The new lens, launched by Alcon, represents the next evolution of the world-renowned PanOptix® trifocal intraocular lens (IOL). The original PanOptix® lens has already set a global benchmark, being the most implanted trifocal IOL worldwide with over 2.2 million implants, and was honoured with the prestigious Prix Galien Award for “Best Medical Technology” in 2021.

With the launch of the Clareon® PanOptix® lens in the UK, our patients can now benefit from an even more advanced solution. This next-generation IOL has already been available in the USA and Japan, and we are excited to be among one of the first in the UK to offer this innovative option.

What Makes Clareon® PanOptix® Different?

The Clareon® PanOptix® lens is crafted using a new hydrophilic polymer called HEMA (Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate). This advanced material offers several advantages over previous lenses, including superior contrast sensitivity and enhanced visual stability. Additionally, it significantly reduces the likelihood of subjective photic phenomena (such as glare or halos) that can sometimes occur with older multifocal lenses.

These improvements are especially valuable for patients who wish to enjoy a full range of clear vision, whether for reading, using a computer, or appreciating distant views, all without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
