Sussex Premier Health, Hastings: Important update for patients with upcoming appointments
Eax wax removal using minimally invasive technique called microsuction.
Earwax is naturally occurring and serves an important purpose, however on occasion, earwax can build in the ear canal and can cause hearing loss or discomfort.
The Clean Ear Clinic at Sussex Premier Health in Hastings uses the Microsuction technique, which is a is a pain free and simple way of removing ear wax without the need for using water like ear syringing or ear irrigation.
The Clean Ear Clinic, run by Dr George Taggart, takes place every other Thursday morning at Sussex Premier Health in Hastings.
During an outpatient appointment, Dr Taggart uses the microsuction technique, which uses a high powered microscope to view the ear canal before using a gentle suction to remove any ear wax or debris.
Microsuction is performed dry, meaning no water is being flushed into the ear canal like ear syringing or ear irrigation, which significantly reducing the risk of infection.
Microsuction does not necessarily require any pre-treatment, however we would advise using olive oil or ear wax softening drops a few days prior to your appointment.

The total cost of the microsuction is £75 which is payable on the day of your appointment.
Dr Taggart will clean both ears during the appointment.
