Dr Sharma trained in Edinburgh and London.  In 2016 he achieved a specialty certificate in General Medicine, and in 2021 a specialty certificate in Respiratory Medicine.

Dr Sharma is trained to deliver care in all aspects of Adult Respiratory Medicine with a particular interest in Interstitial Lung Diseases.  He worked and trained at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London where he was an Honorary Consultant in Respiratory Medicine.

Dr Sharma has a specific interest in interventional pulmonology, this includes Flexible Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), and Pleural procedures.

Dr Sharma has a substantial post at Eastbourne District General Hospital as a consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine, since 2021 and is clinical lead in ILD at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
