Mr Antonios Koumousidis

Mr Koumousidis has specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 12 years, and he has been working as Consultant O&G at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust since 2019.

Mr Koumousidis has a special interest and high expertise in performing gynaecological transvaginal ultrasound scan and a wide experience in the field of benign gynaecology. He is certified in hysteroscopy and in laparoscopy. He has a wide experience in the diagnosis and management of endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding and menopause. Mr Koumousidis is experienced in performing major open surgeries and hysterectomies. He has also developed  skills in the early detection of gynaecological cancer.

Mr Koumousidis is dedicated in following up his patients from the initial diagnosis of a gynaecological problem, via transvaginal ultrasound scan and associated investigations he  performs, until the treatment options I may offer, and the recovery period afterwards.

Mr Koumousidis is a medical appraiser and an educational supervisor, and holds a diploma in Medical Education. He leads the acute gynaecology service and the early pregnancy unit in East Sussex (Conquest and Eastbourne District Hospital) and has developed the Acute Gynaecology Unit (AGU) in the Conquest Hospital.  He leads the prevention and treatment of the preterm labour service in East Sussex and has developed the preterm labour clinic cross-site in the NHS Trust.

As the audit lead in the O&G department, Mr Koumousidis is dedicated in the development of the best services and quality improvement projects. He also chairs the monthly journal club in the O&G department in the Conquest Hospital.
