Sussex Premier Health celebrates its first anniversary of providing healthcare under the ownership of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Posted on: 23 March 2023 in News

Sussex Premier Health, formerly known as Spire Sussex Hospital, celebrates its one year anniversary of being part of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust on 1st April 2023.

Sussex Premier Health provides many benefits to patients in East Sussex and the surrounding areas, offering a local choice for private healthcare and increased capacity to support our NHS hospitals.

Sussex Premier Health is one of a few private hospitals in the UK which are owned by an NHS Trust. Whilst it does not draw on NHS resources, profits that it generates are reinvested back into the trust. Additionally, any capacity not utilised privately is used to assist with local NHS waiting lists.

Sussex Premier Health continues to offer an excellent private experience for its patients, with high standards of personalised care provided by our experienced teams and expert clinicians.

Having transferred across to the local trust the private hospital is now looking at opportunities to develop and grow the services they are able to provide to our local communities.

Joe Chadwick Bell, Chief Executive for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said,
“We have had a very good first year transferring and embedding the private hospital within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. As well as providing local private services for our communities and the surrounding areas, the Sussex Premier Health team have supported the trust by providing capacity to undertake additional NHS patients’ procedures. We hope access to this facility will assist us to attract clinicians to our trust creating choice and access to expertise for all our patients in the future.”

Amanda Rogers, Hospital Director at Sussex Premier Health said,

“The team and I at Sussex Premier Health have had a great first year working under East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. We have continued to provide quality care to our patients and are now with feedback from our patients and teams improving our services and providing new options of care for all. There have been great opportunities throughout the year to work with and support our NHS colleagues and within the trust there have been opportunities for our team to take on new roles supporting their own growth and development. We are very excited about the upcoming year.”

On Friday 31st March the hospital will be celebrating with a special 1-year anniversary cake and celebratory goodie bags for patients.
